I need JAVA (latest) and netbeans 6.1 on my computer. I tried

urpmi java ( a few days ago when I was using Mandriva)

it got crashed and even the version that i got was java 1.4 and nothing better.

Before that I also tried to get it from the Sun website. But even that did not help, probably because I don't know how to correctly do it with the package I got from the sun website.

Moreover, when I tried to install netbeans (after I installed java from sun's website) , it could not find java installed on my computer.

I am using Fedora 10

So, if someone with the same OS(Fedora) has done it, please help me.

If you have done this on some other Linux platform, then too, please give me your method along with your distribution name.

There are two easy ways to install netbeans on fedora
1) download it for linux from sun & install
2) use "yum install netbeans"
